Katoomba is a small town 2 hours by train from Sydney, at the edge of the Blue Mountains cliffs with the famous lookout on the Three Sisters. 3 weeks before my arrival in the New South Wales capital, I decided to live a different experience trough CouchSurfing.

couchsurfing_logo_worldtour-outdoor-experienceCouchSurfing is a website for travelers surfing from a couch to an other one for free. You have to complete your profile seriously before asking a host to receive you. In exchange when you will stop to surf once you have our own place, you can contribute by receiving people to give back the generosity you have got.

.

I’ve tried Couchsurfing when I was in Cairns but I’ve started to late and I couldn’t find a host. It’s always better to plan your staying before to be where you want to go because you can get an answer sometimes one or two weeks later. Knowing that, I sent a request 3 weeks before my arrival in Sydney. I’ve been lucky because after a few days a first host answered me, then a second one and a third one! Like that I could manage my staying in Katoomba going from a host place to an other one.

As you can imagine, this is kind of adventurous because you must trust someone you don’t know. You just have his or her description to guide yourself. But it was just the best human experience ever (or at least one more ^^). Dan received me like a brother as if we knew each other for a long time and we met again after a long absence. I was felling a good energy and once at his place, I was at home. We talked a lot together and the day after I met a friend of him, Jamy, with who I went in the Blue Mountains for a 2 days trip Packrafting going down the Cox’s River between Megalong Valley et Narrow Neck. that was a great experience since Jamy knows a lot of things about ultralight backpacking and survival in nature.
I was in my environement and I was doing why I’ve created this blog World Tour Outdoor Experience. It was like a deep breathe and I could feel all my energy in interaction with the mountains, the forrest, the river, the sun, the wind.

After these two days in the Blue Mountains with a smile impossible to hide, I was thinking about the way I wanted to live my travel for the next part. The good point is that I have a gap between two hosts to try something more adventurous: Asking to an unknown person if he/she agrees to receive me for one night. It already sounds like an interesting challenge, I can’t wait to start!
