Two weeks ago, Kaleigh and I did something insane!

Both of us wanted to skydive. It took us only 30 seconds to go to Bellevue shop on the Esplanade to book with Cairns tandem and pay 48hours before the big jump. We choose this company because first of all it’s the cheapest skydiving company in Cairns and Kaleigh had a friend she met on her scubadiving boat who told her he could film her!

Skydiving from 14,000 feet will cost you $235 ( $210 for the jump and $25 to be an affiliated member of the Australian Parachute Federation). To get the extras photos and video, it will cost you $120 more.

It seems expensive (yes it is) but totally worth it because you won’t have such a terrified face again in your life! ahah

Saturday morning, we woke up at 6:00 am to take the Cairns tandem bus at 7:30. 1h30 later, we arrived to the Innisfail aerodrome where the skydiving club is. I try to be relaxed but my stomach remembers me I have to jump in the air in few minutes.

.

The preparation is not frightening at all, but once you get inside the plane, you start to realize. Worst, there are three lights next to the door in the plane.

Red: 3 minutes before to jump
Yellow: 1 minute before to jump
Green: Let’s go!

Here you are, you can’t go back. My turn comes while my mind runs away and only my body is reacting (it’s why you have to pay for the video!). You are following what the instructor is telling you and he’s pushing you in the air (him behind ^^)! One flip, two flip, one spin… my eyes are running in every directions to find the ground… but we are above the clouds. After 5 seconds during which i was lost, my mind come back and I realize than I’m flying. My face can’t lie, I’m really happy!

Once the parachute is open, the dream disappears. What did I? I can’t perfectly remember. The sensation is already gone. For sure I have to do it again to keep this feeling in my mind forever!
